László Hortobágyi
László Hortobágyi was born in Budapest in 1950 , he is the leader of the band "HYRO".
Besides his musicological and indological studies, he takes part in the design and building of organs.
Since 1967, he has organized and made expeditions - in the first place - to North India for making recordings on the spot, studying philological sources and pursuing practical studies.
Plays the following instruments: Rudra-vinâ, Sitâr-Surbâhâr, Tablâ, etc.
In 1980, he established the musical society called "Gâyan Uttejak Society" which was named after the Hindu-Moslem community of musicians founded by V.N. Bhâtkhânde, operating from 1884 through 1917.
Concerts throughout India and Western Europa.
His computer music pieces composed in the classical Indian musical structure, together with other compositions, are issued in Netherlands, Germany, the United States and Hungary.
In 1984, he established the "Oriental Music Archives" which is unique in Middle Europa and which operates parallel with the music studio called "Gâyan Uttejak Studio" managed by him.
Musicological publications in the field of "Music of India" and "Computer Music Systems".
